5. Why did you decide to start your own business?
In 2012 I decided to start my own education company to serve a broader clientele. Since 2004 I am working as a Coach and Trainer in leadership, service and personal growth. It all started within the field of communication. So over the years I have grown into a decent leader. Yet, I knew that the boundaries of being an employee would keep me from leaving my comfort zone to expand and grow my potential. My ideas, creativity, skills and whole being were relying on me stepping out and stepping up.

DreamTrips is my newest business I started as a JV. While travelling the world for my coaching and training I also enjoy travelling for my personal growth: I am passionate about trips to experience new things, be solely by myself to reflect or to explore destinations I wanted to tick off my bucket list to broaden my horizon.
When I heard about this amazing way of travelling and experiencing more while doing so, DreamTrips literally spoke to my travel heart. But not only did they offer me to become a member of this travel club, they also offered me to become a representative. For me as an entrepreneur this was the business opportunity I was waiting for.

6. Great! Please tell us more about your business and projects.
So let me start with my new baby: DreamTrips.
DreamTrips is an international and award winning travel club, which has its benefits and perks of course. The target group is everybody who likes to take vacation.
The main product is called DreamTrip, a 4 to 5 star travel package which includes more than the usual hotel booking. Each DreamTrip has special services included, such as desert tours, wine tours, massages, special dinner, rafting, kayaking - you name it. Each member of the travel club enjoys their own 24/7 concierge service, best price promise and the new technology RATEShrinker. This technology helps to find the best price for flights and hotels. BUT the best thing is - when your flight price drops until your departure, the system will refund the price difference automatically to your credit card or member account. THIS is found nowhere. So basically all members enjoy a special website where there are thousands of global trips each year, special services, best price promise, 24/7 concierge service and much more.
Yet that is not all. The company WorldVentures rewards each member by paying back the initial membership investment and the monthly dues in so called DreamTrips Points.
These points can then be used to reduce the discounted DreamTrip price. E.g. let´s say a 7 night cruise to the Bahamas has a total price of 700 USD including full hospitality, tours, etc. and the system shows you can add up to 200 DreamTrip Points, you can reduce the price to actual 500USD.
So it is a win-win for all members. Plus members can refer friends to the club and will be rewarded with DreamTrip Points themselves to use for more travels. When they have 4 referrals their own monthly membership fee will be waived.
As a member I can use these special travel offers and services together with a friend, spouse or my spouse and my kids.
So as a member myself I am building my business with them and have started in Germany and already spread to the Philippines. Europe is quite at the beginning while USA, Asia and Romania are rising stars among the diverse countries WorldVentures has opened. (e.g. Zimbabwe, Canada, Australia, UK, Austria, Switzerland, Kenya…) You can do business anywhere in the world with this product and enjoy the benefit of meeting new people around the world. You can practically travel for a living.

My main business is in Transformational Leadership. As mentioned earlier I launched my own company in 2012 after 8 years in this industry of training and coaching. Since 2014 I am also a John Maxwell Team Coach, Trainer and Speaker. John Maxwell is the number one nominated leadership expert in the USA and my business partner and mentor. The team consists of approximately 6000 members from all over the world.
My product line consists o workshops, seminars, keynote speeches, coaching and moderation of events. The target group are mostly start-up companies and enterprises locally, nationally and globally. Yet I also provide my services for churches and non-profit organisations.
The clients ask for trainings such as, leading teams, virtual team communication, conflict management, personal development, stress management and more. Basically whenever there is a topic of improving processes, products or people.

7. What was the most difficult or challenging thing to start with?
Most challenging was the acquisition and finance part. Before I started my own business I had huge companies cover my back when talking to potential clients. To now step out and step up to promote my own business and services was challenging. Yet it was a great process to find my own image and voice. Finance handling is not taught in school and even if one can manage to pull up a nice forcast chart, it is something different to keep the numbers checked and understand cash flow, assets, passive sources of income and so on. It is still a challenge for me to some point. To understand the power of TEAM is very vital here. Meaning to find the right person for the task. You can outsource the part of the business or hire somebody, but you will need help when you start as a one (wo)man show.

8. Where do you currently need support?
At present I could need help in building my network of customers and team members for my travel business around the globe. That could be by referring my business to all people who would like to travel in a better way than there is out there right now. Also referrals to entrepreneurial thinking people who are ready to invest into their own business by joining my team and start earning an extra income of 500 to 800 USD each month for starters (part time).

9. Do you have an advice for other women?
Keep stepping out of your comfort zone on a regular basis. You matter and You are made to reach your potential no matter how scary it might look like at first or what others say. When I was 19 I had just finished my apprenticeship as a dental assistant. On my graduation my former supervisor said to me that I won't amount to anything. If I had listen to the limiting beliefs of others in those days they would have been right. Yet I believed that there is more in me. 18 years later I have written 2 books, mastered 3 studies and several courses next to my full time jobs, grew into a person of character, built a career from call agent to head of department, built departments, lead hundreds of people, travelled around the globe, made awesome connections and friends, founded my own business, inspired hundreds of individuals, spoke on conferences and on camera, mentored others and contributed to transform this world into a better place. They did not know this was in me, but I believed that that was just the beginning!

10. What would you tell your younger self?
Don’t make life changing decisions when you are in the valley.
Storms are temporary and part of the process to refine you.
Plant seeds today for your tomorrow.
Your past does not define your future.
The result is determined on what you think. Condition yourself to think high(er) thoughts than your problems.
Don’t compare yourself to others, only with yourself.
Learn to make money a good servant not a master of your life.
